I’ve been been enjoying the outdoors through camping and hiking since before I can remember. As a Wisconsin Native, I grew up around nature. Family vacations were typically camping trips. Summers were spent on the lake. Graduate school brought me to Cincinnati and I haven’t managed to leave yet. After getting through school and establishing my career, I picked back up the habit of escaping to the wilderness when I needed to get away from the busy city and repetitiveness of the typical routine. I’ve been enjoying exploring the national forests of Kentucky and the Appalachian Mountains. These are my stories of escaping to the wilderness for some mellow time with friends or family.
Rather than getting bogged down in preparing for the perfect backpacking trip, with only the most necessary and lightweight gear and a strict itinerary, I try to follow three rules: be safe, be nice, and have a good time.
